While conducting patrols in Atteridgeville, officers arrested a 75-year-old woman and her 35-year-old daughter-in-law after allegedly finding them selling cough syrup in contravention of the Medicines and Related Substances Act.
In a separate operation in Olievenhoutbosch, a 35-year-old man was also arrested after officers allegedly found him selling cough syrup and antidepressant tablets for casual consumption, also in contravention of the Act.
The suspects are expected to face charges relating to the unlawful sale of scheduled medicines.
TMPD says the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to combat the illegal sale and abuse of prescription medication, which has become a growing concern in many communities.
Mamelodi News will continue to follow the matter and provide updates as the suspects appear in court.
