Police have arrested Dimakatso Chiloane and Solly Pitoti Sibeko, both from the same community as murdered EFF member Aaron Makola, whose body was found dumped in a bush in Delmas on Thursday.
The arrests mark a significant breakthrough in the investigation into Makola's disappearance and murder. The 51-year-old EFF member was reported missing on 10 July 2026, while his abandoned vehicle was found the following day. His body was later discovered by the Gauteng Political Killings Task Team (GP PKTT) during an intensive investigation.
One of those arrested, Dimakatso Chiloane, is known to many Mamelodi News readers. Earlier this year, Mamelodi News reported on videos in which Chiloane made a series of allegations against Mphikeleli Mantsoe, accusing him of multiple crimes.
At the time, Mantsoe strongly denied the allegations, describing them as baseless. His response was later echoed by a family member of one of the deceased individuals mentioned in the claims, who appealed for grieving families not to be drawn into personal disputes or political agendas.
At this stage, police have not indicated whether those earlier allegations are connected in any way to the murder investigation. The arrests relate to the ongoing investigation into the killing of Aaron Makola, and the motive has not yet been publicly disclosed.
The suspects are expected to appear in court, where police are likely to provide further details as the investigation progresses.
Mamelodi News will continue to follow this developing story and provide updates as more information becomes available.
