Tompa Family Seeks Justice for Slain Daughter in Mmametlhake.

The Tompa family of Mmametlhake, Mpumalanga, is grieving the brutal murder of their daughter, Khutso Bonolo Sophy Tompa, 28, who was shot twice in the head and killed near her home on Sunday, 20 April 2025.

According to reports, Khutso was returning home from watching a local soccer match with a friend when they were accosted by two assailants around 5 p.m.

The attackers ordered them to lie on the ground before fatally shooting Khutso in the head. They stole her iPhone and Capitec Bank card before fleeing. Her friend, though unharmed, remains deeply traumatized by the incident.

This tragedy marks the second violent attack on the Tompa family in less than two months. On 1 March 2025, three intruders invaded their home, shooting Khutso’s seven-year-old son, Orelekane, in the thigh and stealing a cellphone.

The family now lives in fear, haunted by the recurring violence in their community.

Khutso was laid to rest on 26 April 2025 at Mmametlhake Cemetery. Mourners at her funeral carried placards demanding justice for her untimely death, reflecting the community’s outrage and call for action.

A dedicated employee at Unisa, Khutso was pursuing an honours degree in financial management. She leaves behind her son, Orelekane, her parents, and siblings, Tshenolo and Dikago.

The family and community urge authorities to apprehend the perpetrators and ensure justice for Khutso. Police investigations are ongoing, but no arrests have been reported.
