Taxi Violence Surges in Gauteng: Multiple Shootings Reported.

Johannesburg, April 2, 2025 - A wave of taxi-related violence swept through Gauteng on Wednesday, leaving multiple victims in its wake. The bloodshed began in Ennerdale, Johannesburg, where two taxi operators were shot inside their vehicle during the morning hours.

According to reports, the Ennerdale shooting is believed to be linked to an ongoing turf war between rival taxi associations vying for control of a lucrative route. The police have launched an investigation into the incident.

In a disturbing coincidence, another shooting occurred on the same evening at Mabopane Station, where two taxi owners were targeted. The motive behind this attack is still unclear.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) has initiated a comprehensive investigation into both shootings. Authorities are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incidents and identify those responsible.

The surge in taxi-related violence has raised concerns about the safety of commuters and the need for increased policing and regulation within the taxi industry. The ongoing conflict between rival taxi associations has created a climate of fear and uncertainty.
