Four suspects, Steven Mthombeni (27), Mduduzi Masango (31), Luthando Trevor Skhosana (37), and Isaac Mabhena (29), are set to reappear in the Mdutjana Magistrate Court on Thursday, April 10, 2025.

They were arrested in connection with the torching of 51 Putco buses in the Nkangala District on January 27, 2025.

The incident occurred on the night of January 27, 2025, when 51 Putco buses were torched at three depots: Moloto, Maphotla, and Thabana.

The suspects were arrested and charged with malicious damage to property, business robbery, and assault with grievous bodily harm (GBH).

The suspects have been remanded in custody since their arrest, with their bail applications repeatedly postponed. Their bail application was last postponed on February 19, 2025, and is now set to be heard on April 10, 2025.

The suspects face serious charges, including malicious damage to property, business robbery, and assault GBH. The authorities have gathered evidence linking the suspects to the arson attack, which resulted in significant damage to the Putco buses.
