EFF Leader Julius Malema Vows to Seek Justice for Omotoso's Alleged Victims.
Julius Malema, leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), has pledged to seek justice for the alleged victims of Timothy Omotoso, a Nigerian pastor recently acquitted of serious charges. Malema asserted that if the EFF gains power, especially in the event of the collapse of the current Government of National Unity (GNU), they would work to have Omotoso arrested again and build a stronger case.
Omotoso, along with co-accused Zukiswa Sitho and Lusanda Sulani, faced trial for alleged rape and exploitation of young women in his church. The case, which began in 2018, featured testimonies from several women, including former Idols SA contestants Anele and Neliswa Mxakaza, who shared harrowing experiences of manipulation and exploitation.
Malema emphasized that Omotoso should not be allowed to remain free, particularly after the serious allegations of harming "our children." This commitment reflects the EFF's stance on seeking justice for the victims, a position that has gained attention in light of Omotoso's acquittal on April 2, 2025.
The case highlights concerns about the support and protection of victims in similar situations. Some victims reportedly stayed in confined conditions, subjected to Omotoso's control, and experienced sexual abuse in his private quarters.
The EFF's pledge to seek justice for Omotoso's alleged victims raises questions about the potential for further investigation and the possibility of a stronger case being built. As the situation unfolds, many will be watching to see how the EFF's commitment to justice for the victims translates into action.
