Deputy president survives a hit.

The South African Police Service (SAPS), in conjunction with the Presidential Protection Unit, has commenced a joint investigation into an alleged shooting incident involving Deputy President Paul Mashatile's official vehicle.

According to preliminary reports, the vehicle was struck by gunfire on three occasions while the Deputy President was en route to his residence.

The authorities are treating this matter with the utmost urgency, ensuring the safety of the Deputy President and conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

This incident occurs amid heightened concerns regarding the safety of high-ranking officials in South Africa.

In a separate but related incident, members of the Deputy President's security detail were previously involved in an altercation on the N1 highway in Johannesburg, prompting swift disciplinary action and legal proceedings against the officers involved.

The SAPS has committed to conducting a thorough and transparent investigation into the shooting. While the circumstances remain under investigation, the protection of public officials remains a top priority, with measures being implemented to bolster security for such individuals.

Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses and law enforcement agencies continue to review all available evidence.
