Limpopo musician Matome Robert Mahlatse Thoka, popularly known as Limpopo Boy, has broken his silence after a private video involving him and a woman identified on social media as Matshidiso Matilda was circulated without consent.
In a statement dated 12 August 2026, Limpopo Boy expressed remorse over the situation and apologised to those who were affected, particularly the Shai family.
The musician said he only discovered after the video was leaked that the woman involved was married. He acknowledged that he should have independently established her marital status before becoming involved with her.
“I should have independently verified her marital status before sharing a private moment with her,” he said.
Limpopo Boy said he accepts responsibility for what he described as poor judgement and acknowledged the pain and disappointment caused by the situation.
He also rejected the idea that he intended to destroy a family, saying: “I’m not a home wrecker.”
The musician apologised to his family, the Shai family and members of the public who have been affected or distressed by the controversy.
He further said he understands that being in the public eye comes with consequences and that trust cannot be restored through words alone.
According to Limpopo Boy, he intends to use the experience to reflect, learn from his mistakes and become a better person.
