Four suspects aged between 27 and 35 have been arrested following a dramatic business robbery at a petrol station in Pretoria North during the early hours of Thursday morning.
Police were alerted after reports of gunshots at the business and immediately launched a follow-up operation to track down the suspects.
The investigation led officers to Soshanguve Extension 20, where four suspects were arrested.
Police also recovered a white Ford Ranger allegedly used during the robbery.
Inside the vehicle, officers reportedly found an ATM, drop safe, stolen stock, tools and an undisclosed amount of money.
A rifle allegedly stolen in Booysens in January 2024, together with ammunition, was also recovered.
Police further recovered a white Suzuki allegedly linked to the Pretoria North robbery.
According to preliminary information, the suspects allegedly robbed the petrol station before loading the ATM and drop safe onto the Ford Ranger and fleeing the scene.
Several shots were reportedly fired during the incident.
Fortunately, no police officers or security personnel were injured.
The four suspects are facing a number of serious charges, including business robbery, attempted murder, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, and possession of suspected stolen property.
They are expected to appear in court as police continue investigating the robbery and the possible involvement of the suspects in other crimes.
The suspects remain presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
