Refilwe Stands United: Community Shuts Down Chipa-Tabane High School, Demands Dignified Education NOW!

Cullinan - 16 January 2025 - Enough is enough! On 16 January 2025, furious Refilwe residents marched to Chipa-Tabane Comprehensive High School, shut it down, and sent learners home early.

Community leaders have vowed: the school stays closed until the new school in Extension 10 opens. They promise to start relocating learners from Monday.

The shocking reality learners face daily:

- Three students squeezed onto one chair

- Some classes with no teachers or proper rooms

- Unsupervised learners smoking cigarettes and dagga on school grounds

- Toilets broken and unusable, boys and girls forced to share the same facilities

- No permanent principal for three years since Mr. Masenya left

Teachers are equally fed up, calling the situation a disaster and standing in solidarity with the community.

Refilwe demands one thing: decent, dignified education for their children, now.

The gates remain locked until that demand is met.
