Mamelodi Man Seeks Help Amid Suspected Girlfriend Betrayal, Echoes Previous Tragedy
By Mamelodi News, Pretoria, Gauteng - October 7, 2025
An anonymous Mamelodi resident has reached out to Mamelodi News in a desperate plea for assistance, claiming his life is spiraling into a nightmare reminiscent of the heartbreaking September 9 hostage crisis involving police constable. Immediately after contacting us via TikTok Inbox, the man deactivated the account he used to send the message, heightening fears for his safety.
The resident detailed a chain of alarming events that began shortly after he publicly shared his concerns online. "A few hours later, I got robbed of my phone at gun and knife point," he wrote, linking the theft directly to his post about the similarities to constable's case.
This morning, in a bid to recover his communications, the man asked his girlfriend to lend him her phone. She initially agreed but then exhibited behavior he found deeply suspicious: deleting her WhatsApp account and removing all SIM cards from the device. Compounding his fears, he began receiving Google alerts indicating the phone's owner was attempting to lock and remotely wipe the account. "I'm sure she knows what I'm going to find in this phone," he added, hinting at potential evidence of infidelity, complicity in the robbery, or worse echoing the profound sense of familial betrayal that triggered many man to despair.
Now without a phone and isolated, the man fears for his safety in the close-knit Mamelodi community, where trust has been shattered by recent violence and unresolved tensions. "My situation is almost the same," he emphasized, drawing parallels to Mashego's unraveling after discovering hidden family secrets.
Mamelodi News has urged the resident to contact the South African Police Service (SAPS) Mamelodi SAPS at 012 353 1234 or Crime Stop at 08600 10111 for immediate protection and investigation into the robbery and hacking. Community leaders, still reeling from the Mashego tragedy, have called for increased mental health support and vigilance against cyber threats in the township.
