Ekangala Taxi Association demand 30% from Putco Bus.

Times are hard for the community of Ekangala as the dispute between Taxi operator and Bus operator rises.

On Monday, 11 March 2025, Morning, taxi association took a decisive action against the bus giant which resulted in immediate suspension of Putco bus services around Ekangala.

The Taxi association at Ekangala, Bronkhorstspruit, Sakhile Ekangala Taxi Association(SETA) demand the bus operator to hand 30% subcontracting deal to the association.

In the letter written to Putco the association, accuses the Putco bus drivers for allegedly hooting at commuters at a local taxi rank(Ekangala Four ways) and pick up some passengers which doesn't sit well with the taxi operator.

The Taxi association allegedly had a meeting with the bus operator, Putco regarding their concerns over the so called "Complaints or Demands from taxi association".

1. The association concerns include a demand for all the Bus transport around Ekangala route to Bronkhorstspruit to be suspended as Putco is taking taxi association customers(People from Ekangala). 

2. All trips to Pretoria should cease to operate immediately after 7am because Putco is taking Associations customers.

3. The bus operator must offload customers at the taxi rank when coming back from Bronkhorstspruit or Pretoria for taxis to deliver the commuters locally. Etc

However Putco responded by stating that they are operating under The Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport (GDRT) contracting authority which they believe should be responding.
