The community of Tembisa feels safe after a kidnapper being arrested.

The community of Tembisa is feeling a relief after the arrest of a former PRASA employee.

The accused Sipho Lucas Phiri is a former security officer which was employed by PRASA.

Phiri worked for railway agency from 2020 to the year 2023 after he got arrested. His employer then decided to terminate his contract due to the cases he faced.

 

The former security officer is facing a total of 145 charges, which include kidnapping and rape.

It is alleged that Phiri was targeting women who are going to work in the early hours of the morning around Tembisa and surrounding areas.

Reports indicate that he would allegedly approach these women with a firearm, then force them into a company vehicle, and then transport them to an area where he would commit acts of sexual assault before leaving them.
