Patients at Stanza Bopape Health Centre are raising concerns about alleged administrative problems that they say are making access to healthcare increasingly frustrating.

According to a social media post shared by Deputy Chief Whip Mathews under the hashtag #IM_HERE_AT_STANZA_BOPAPE, patients reportedly wait between three and four hours just to retrieve their medical files.

The post alleges that some patients are subsequently told their files cannot be found, forcing them to open new files or return to the facility on another day.

For people who are sick and seeking medical attention, such delays can add to an already difficult experience.

PATIENTS ALLEGEDLY SENT HOME

The complaints suggest that patients sometimes leave without receiving the assistance they came for after being told their files are missing.

The post also claims that some community members have taken their files home because of ongoing concerns about file management.

These allegations have not been independently verified by Mamelodi News. The facility and relevant health authorities should be given an opportunity to respond.

This is not the first time Stanza Bopape Health Centre has come under scrutiny.

Previous concerns about Stanza Bopape 2 Clinic have included long waiting times, high patient volumes and pressure on staffing and essential resources. A City of Tshwane Section 79 Health Committee oversight visit also highlighted operational challenges requiring follow-up.

While these issues are not identical to the latest allegations about missing files, they raise a broader question about whether patients are receiving the timely and reliable service they need.

AUTHORITIES URGED TO RESPOND

Residents are calling for urgent attention to the clinic’s administration and file-management system.

The relevant health authorities and City of Tshwane are urged to investigate the complaints, establish whether files are being misplaced, and explain what measures are in place to prevent patients from being repeatedly delayed or turned away.

Patients should not have to spend hours searching for a file before they can access the healthcare they need.
