Soshanguve Woman Claims Life in Danger After Boyfriend Threatens to Kill Her Over One-Time Cheating - Highlights Double Standards and Fear in Toxic Relationships

By Mamelodi News

Soshanguve, Tshwane - 10 February 2026 - A woman from Soshanguve has shared with Mamelodi News that she fears for her life after her boyfriend allegedly threatened to kill her following a single instance of cheating on her part, despite what she describes as his repeated infidelity with multiple women.

The woman, who spoke anonymously for her safety, explained that her partner, whom she referred to as a "tsotsi" (street-wise/criminal type), reacted violently to her one-time infidelity. She claims he now wants to harm or kill her, while excusing his own ongoing cheating.

When Mamelodi News asked why she doesn't simply end the relationship and leave, her response highlighted deep concerns: "Who is going to take care of me and my lifestyle? The weaves, makeup, and allowances?"

She described feeling trapped by financial dependence and the material support he provides, making escape feel impossible despite the danger.
