Tragic Incident in Mamelodi: Young Woman Hospitalised After Alleged Overdose Following Matric Results

According to information received by Mamelodi News, a former matriculant from Mamelodi, a township in Pretoria, Gauteng, has been rushed to hospital after allegedly overdosing on pills. The incident is believed to be linked to the emotional distress of failing her matric exams.

The young woman, whose identity has not been disclosed, was reportedly hospitalised shortly after the release of the Class of 2025 National Senior Certificate (NSC) results on 13 January 2026. Sources indicate that the overdose occurred in the wake of receiving disappointing results.

Currently, neither the family nor other sources have publicly disclosed the specific hospital where she is receiving treatment, nor have they provided updates on her medical status or condition. Out of respect for the family's privacy during this difficult time, further personal details are being withheld.
