A dark clouds surround Mamelodi's heart as the serial killer is on the loose.

A dark cloud has yet hit Pretoria's loved township Mamelodi with a serial killer on the loose, operation in East, West, Nellmaphius, and Eersterust spreading fear of death to local community more especially to young girls.

It is recorded that from the month of June to July, 2025 authorities discovered the bodies of four young women, aged 19 to 30 dead, and their bodies burned and abandoned like forgotten embers in Deneboom and Waltloo. The bodies resembled the same killing mark,a cruel mark of a predator who moves like a ghost. These women, full of life and promise, were stolen from their families, their dreams reduced to ashes by a heartless hand. 

The Mamelodi community now lives in fear for they don't know who could be the next target. Doors are bolted, hearts race like galloping horses, and every shadow feels like a threat. 

Women walk with eyes wide, scanning for danger, as if the killer’s gaze could be hiding behind any corner. Police are working hard, chasing clues against a ticking clock, but the killer remains at large, slipping through their fingers just like that. They beg the public, especially women, to stay alert, to guard their lives like precious treasure.

This isn’t the first time Mamelodi has faced such horror. From 1994 to 1995, Moses Sithole, the “ABC Killer,” murdered 38 women across areas like Mamelodi, Atteridgeville, Boksburg, and Cleveland strangling them after promising them jobs. Sithole’s was sentenced to 2,410 years in prison in the year 1997. More recently, from 2017 to 2022, Doctor Nkurube Maruma raped and robbed 19 women in Mamelodi, including a 15-year-old girl. It marks two month since his sentence, as he was jailed for 491 years in May 2025.

Mamelodi News urges anyone with any information to share it with the authorities so that the killer may be apprehended.
