IPID Withdraws Complaint Against Mkhwanazi.

The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) has withdrawn a letter of complaint against KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, according to Mkhwanazi himself. This development comes after allegations surfaced that Mkhwanazi was protecting a drug-dealing prison official.

The investigation into Mkhwanazi's alleged misconduct was initiated following an anonymous complaint from the public. However, Police Minister Senzo Mchunu clarified that he did not lay any complaint against Mkhwanazi, despite initial reports suggesting otherwise.

While Mkhwanazi confirmed the withdrawal of the complaint, IPID spokesperson Lizzy Suping did not directly confirm this, stating that the directorate is still proceeding with its work. This discrepancy raises questions about the status of the investigation.

The Public Services Association has welcomed the withdrawal of the letter, considering it a conclusion to what they called the harassment of Mkhwanazi. This development has sparked debate about the motivations behind the investigation and the potential impact on Mkhwanazi's leadership.

The IPID has announced that it will release a statement once the process is complete, leaving many wondering what the future holds for Mkhwanazi and the investigation. As the situation unfolds, one thing is clear: the outcome will have significant implications for the KwaZulu-Natal police department and the community they serve.

- The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has expressed support for Mkhwanazi, condemning the "malicious and coordinated attacks" against him.

- An expert has questioned the timing of the IPID's probe into Mkhwanazi, suggesting it may be a deliberate attempt to undermine his efforts in fighting crime.
